A lifestyle magazine inspired by motorsport culture. We explore how racing is lived off-track through the stories of those who shape the community and define the world of racing.
Racing is typically written about in terms of speed, machines, and results; the drama and competition that unfold at a race. But the track is only the arena where the performance plays out. The real story is the community that spreads far beyond the circuit. There’s a whole world that travels from city to city each week; lives defined by racing and the culture that it creates. It’s a community shaped by the shared pursuit of something meaningful, both on and off track.
Some of the most compelling moments in a racing life happen in-between weekends. Karli and Robert Wickens just added twins to their young family, while Tyler Courtney is working his way back to the track after a season-ending injury at Eldora. Will Buxton seemed to try every local food and candy in America in his Indycar freshman season, and Marion Grosjean watched her husband get back in a Formula 1 car. These are the people stories.
We want to highlight motorsport’s mission to support the larger community as well. Programs like Daniel Suárez’s Daniel’s Amigos, encouraging Latino participation in racing, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Be The One partnership with the American Legion, and Pippa Mann’s Shift Up Now Foundation, helping female drivers access funding and support, each embody motorsport’s longstanding spirit of philanthropy. Their efforts deserve recognition and inspire others to contribute.
Speedwell is about living well and doing good in the motorsport community.
Our mission is to capture the lifestyle that surrounds the sport. Every stop along the season tells a story. Each city has a best hotel, must-eat foods, and an unspoken uniform. We travel through hometowns steeped with local pride, family traditions, and the people who keep the engines running in the background. Speedwell aims to lure the racing world’s cadre of talented photographers and storytellers out of the paddock and into the community to capture how racing is lived along the way.
Each issue will draw from across multiple series. Dirt, drag, stock, or open wheel; we’re here for it. Whether you live in the sport, work behind the scenes, or follow from the stands, Speedwell is a place to find the stories that connect us. We welcome readers, contributors, and partners who recognize the depth of this community and want to help document how motorsport is lived. If you have a story to tell, the perfect shot to share, or want to support the vision, stay tuned for ways to get involved. The concept is still evolving, this is just the starting line.
PS- That photo is my dad. When he wasn’t building rockets or teaching jet propulsion and aerodynamics, he raced in the IMSA Firestone Firehawk series. My teenage years were spent traveling cross-country making meals for the crew and waking up in the middle of the night to watch F1. He’s why we’re here.
